We have some very exciting news to announce to everyone this month.
Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Coming to Thornton for Independence Day - Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation Sponsors Memorial. With great pride and enthusiasm the Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation announces Thornton will be the host for the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. The Foundation, working in conjunction with the city of Thornton, has arranged to have this extraordinary memorial present from July 3 to July 7, 2008 - most fittingly during the city’s Independence Day celebration. The Wall will be available for public viewing 24 hours a day on those dates at the multipurpose fields at the Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center (11151 Colorado Boulevard, Thornton, CO 80233). Volunteers for Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Event Needed. With the announcement of the traveling wall coming to Thornton, we are seeking volunteers to help us with the event as it will draw thousands of visitors. You can help with any number of tasks including setting up and taking down the wall, daytime staffing to work the computer and assist visitors (guest services), overnight guest services and security, and people to take 20 minute shifts to read the names on the wall in remembrance on Sunday, July 5. Donations Can Now Be Made on a Recurring Monthly Basis. By popular request, we have added the capability for you to make small, recurring monthly donations to the memorial project. Using a PayPal account, you can setup monthly contributions of $10, $25, $50 and $100 that are taken from your bank account or charged to your credit card. Next Meeting, Monday, March 3 @ 7:00pm at the Thornton Civic Center. Our meetings are held on the first Monday of the month. This project is a community project and we wholeheartedly encourage anyone who is interested to attend to learn more and if so inclined, to join us in helping to make the project a reality.
